UCSC Farm and Garden

The Center for Agroecology and Sustainable Food Systems operates a 25-acre research and demonstration garden. Map of grounds available at the farm's gatehouse. Public workshops, lectures, and events are scheduled. Plant sales and produce cart offered May-Oct. UCSC main entrance Carriage House parking area. Follow the signed 1/4-mile path to Farm Gatehouse.

UCSC Performing Arts

The Arts and Lectures department presents a year-round performance schedule of theater, music, dance, and visiting artist series programs. On-campus venues are located at the Theater Arts Center where you will find the Box Office, Main Stage Theater, Shakespeare Santa Cruz Redwood Festival Glen, and the Music Center Recital halls. Off-campus programs are at the Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium, Rio Theater, and Mello Center.

The campus sits high on the hillside overlooking the Santa Cruz and Monterey Bay. Each of its 10 colleges connects via a paved trail system that passes through various forests, riparian and coastal prairie landscapes. There's a 400-acre nature reserve with walks along its 1-mile trail. Many of the university's arts, lecture programs, and attractions welcome visitors. On campus parking is strictly regulated.

Watsonville Ocean Speedway

Speedway season, Mar.-Oct., has a fast pace schedule of races. Featured divisions include Late Models, American Stock, Super Stock, 4-Bangers, Wingless Sprints, Destruction Derby, Figure 8, 360 SCRA, BCRA Midges, Dwarf Cars, 410 Sprint Cars, Gene Romero's Flat Track Motorcycles and IMCA Modified.

Watsonville Wetlands Trail & Nature Center

An 80-acre urban wetland & one of the surviving central coast tidewater marshes. It has a 4-mile paved walking and bike trail, open daily from sunrise to sunset. The Wetland Nature Center offers exhibits & offers guided walks. Open Tue.-Wed. 2-4:30 p.m., & Sat.-Sun. 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

West Cliff Drive in Santa Cruz

One of the area's most scenic urban coastline routes. It has a 2-mile path along the bluff's edge, that connects Natural Bridges State Park and the Santa Cruz Wharf and Main Beach.

Wild Things

Wilder Ranch State Park

First a rancho supplying the Santa Cruz Mission, later a successful and innovative dairy farm, and for several generations home to the Wilder family. The restored Wilder home, out-buildings, and the park's interpretive center are host to scheduled living history events and trailhead site for guided and self-guided, walks. This 7,000-acre park has over 34-miles of marked hiking, biking, and equestrian trails.
